Iro Zoubopoulou | Psychoanalyst

About me

Welcome to my website!

I am Iro Zoubopoulou, a psychoanalyst of Lacanian orientation.

I am a graduate of the Department of Social Administration and Political Science of the Democritus University of Thrace-Greece, with a major in Social Work (’04). After graduation, I worked for two years in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece as a field worker, dealing with the integration problems of the Muslim minority. Following that, I started working in community clinics with chronically mentally ill patients.

Between 2007 and 2014 I worked as a full-time therapist at the Greek National Organisation Against Drugs (OKANA), treating and offering support to drug addicts, gaining a wealth of clinical experience. Since 2014 I work as an independent psychoanalyst, offering help, counselling and support to individuals and groups who suffer from modern symptoms, such as anxiety, stress-induced conditions (exams, loss, burn-out) addictions to substances or to social media. I have worked with adults of various ages (children, students, professionals, individuals) and I have given talks in schools and higher education institutions.

I attend the Clinical Section of Athens since 2008 (Section Clinique d’ Athènes) and I actively participate in the activities of the Lacanian School of Athens and London. I have been under analysis since 2008. In parallel, I perform research always approaching my subjects from a psychoanalytic perspective and discourse; within my interests are psychoanalysis and art and the interpretation of modern symptoms via the Freudian and Lacanian prism. I have presented clinical cases in conferences and cartels and I have translated a number of articles. I give talks in a variety of contexts, regarding psy-related issues.

In 2017, I completed a full-time Masters in Psychoanalysis at Kingston University-London graduating with a Distinction. I am fluent in English, French and Greek.

Between 2015 and 2019 I lived in Cambridge-UK, which I still visit for professional reasons. I am currently residing and practising in Paros and Athens-Greece.
